Because it’s been a sucky year all around, what with shit demagogues and rubbish policies, I thought I’d try to lighten the load for some of you. Well, three of you, at any rate. Goodreads are being scumbutts with their giveaways, so I figured I could give a few ebooks away instead.
All you have to do is follow me and Grimbold Books on Twitter (@stevenjpoore and @GrimboldBooks) and RT the tweet shown below, and you’re in the draw to win both parts of Malessar’s Curse – that’s Heir to the North and High King’s Vengeance – in either epub or mobi format.
The draw will take place on Christmas Eve, and I’ll be in touch with the lucky winners after that!
The good folk over at Booknest.eu, headed by Petros Triantafylloy, are raising money for Doctors Without Borders (aka Medecins Sans Frontieres). They are doing this through a combination of lottery and auction, for prizes that total one hundred signed and personally dedicated books by one hundred fantasy authors.
That’s one hundred books. One hundred. Divided into lots, naturally, because we are mercenary enough to want to raise as much money as possible for essential humanitarian aid.
And I say we, because I’m proud to be one of the hundred authors contributing to the project. You can see the names on the graphic on this page. Booknest has all the details, along with the titles of the books pledged, over on their own site, along with a link to their JustGiving page. Click the banner image to head over that way.
You have just two weeks to buy into the fundraising extravaganza – let’s give 2017 a positive kick-start, shall we?
It’s been awfully quiet on here for a while. But that doesn’t mean that there’s nowt going on – like the proverbial duck, there’s a lot of movement under the surface.
High King’s Vengeance has been pummeled with the red pen of actiony action, which is to say that the editing process is well underway. I keep getting that “did I really write this?” sensation, and I should point out that this is a good thing. You’re going to like this.
The audio mastering of Heir to the North, narrated by Diana Croft, is about one-third done, and sends shivers through my skin every time I go and listen to it. Seriously, you’re going to like this.
I’ve just submitted a short story for a prospective anthology from a new small press next year, assuming all goes to plan. It’s a nicely brutal slice of grimness with a couple of twists that really ought to hurt. Yeah, I think you’ll like it.
Fox Spirit Books are lining up the last few in their series of Fox Pockets – the mini anthologies of themed short stories. Take Me With You and Full Compliance will be on the ToC of those books – I’m particularly proud of Take Me With You, but Full Compliance also introduces South Yorkshire’s last superhero, Johnny Silver, who (as the old tagline goes) will return… guess what? I reckon you’ll like ’em both.
And if you fancy winning yourself a signed copy of Heir to the North – and why not? – get yourself to Goodreads next weekend, because from 15th May there’ll be one up for grabs! You have to be in it to win it, so why not add it to your TBR list now? 🙂
Yes folks, you could win one or more of twelve paperbacks from Grimbold Books – including a copy of Heir To The North, if you haven’t already got one! All you need to do is visit Grimbold Books’ Facebook page and do the Rafflecopter thing, and you could be a lucky winner. Don’t say we never gives ya nuthin’.
Did I tell you that I have a book coming out before the end of this month? Y’know, part one of an Epic Fantasy duology under the series title Malessar’s Curse? Heir To The North, it’s called. And if you want the digital version of it, you’ll have to wait until the official release date of October 23rd. (But you can still pre-order it, because pre-orders are cool. Like fezes.)
But – check this. The paperback listing is up on Amazon now. And if you order it, it may very well arrive before the official release date. How about that, heh?
If you want the chance of winning a signed copy of Heir To The North, meanwhile, get thee hither to the SFSF Social this Saturday, at Eten Cafe in Sheffield, where David Barnett will be reading from his latest Gideon Smith novel, and Amanda Rutter will be answering questions in an exclusive “Ask The Agent” session, and buy a raffle ticket or two.
You’ve got to be in it to win it, folks.
